Africa-Press – Eswatini. It’s very unfortunate to note that, King Mswati opted to spend millions of public funds, celebrating his useless birthday amid protests over scarcity or non-availability of drugs within country’s public hospitals.
As the Head of State, the King cannot exonerate himself from the health crisis particularly, if he is seen enjoying life as if there’s no crisis in this country.
Indeed, we can blame Swazipharm Director Kareem Ashraff and all the alleged thieves next to him but at the end, Mswati must account because these corrupt thieves are hiding under his wings as an absolute Monarch.
Mswati was seen behaving like a teenager, blowing candles of a huge cake in a happy mood with his royal family members, while the poor and vulnerable “helplessly watch their relatives taking the last breath within the various public hospitals amid shortage of drugs”.
Such extravagance funded with public funds in the midst of a health crisis suggests that, the King doesn’t care about the lives of the poor and vulnerable.
The health crisis has escalated to a point where the aggrieved citizens of this country might overthrow the institution of the Monarchy including the useless and corrupt Tinkhundla undemocratic Government.
Threatening the citizens with death or guns might not work because the poor and vulnerable are now ‘dead walking human beings’, at least guns will speed-up their journey to the grave.
The health crisis is not only a threat to those who are already sick and taking the Human Immunodeficiency Virus(HIV), the Blood Pressure(BP), Cancer and Diabetic Disease drugs among other medications, all human beings will suffer from various diseases one day and therefore, we cannot allow Mswati and his corrupt regime to collapse the health system without any effort or demand for accountability.
Mswati is addicted to a lavish lifestyle such that, he has no regard for the lives of the poor and vulnerable, no sane King can spend millions taxpayer’s money, celebrating a useless birthday while emaSwati die in public hospitals.
