Africa-Press – Eswatini. A joint task team visited two major infrastructure projects in the Manzini and Shiselweni Regions on May 14, 2025.
Tasked with monitoring progress, the team is ensuring that development efforts stay on course and deliver meaningful impact to communities.
Their first stop was the Manzini Regional Water and Sanitation Project, a collaborative initiative between the African Development Bank, Government, and the Eswatini Water Services Corporation (EWSC).
Currently 42% complete, the project aims to provide clean and safe drinking water to five constituencies: Mntfongwaneni, Nhlambeni, Manzini North, Manzini South, and Mafutseni.
A highlight of this project is the construction of a new water treatment plant in Matsapha. Once operational, this facility will significantly enhance the supply of potable water across the Manzini Region.
The team then proceeded to the Nhlangano Water and Sanitation Project, another transformative development spearheaded by EWSC and supported by the World Bank. This project is divided into three infrastructure packages designed to improve water supply and sanitation for communities in and around Nhlangano.
Package 1, involving the construction of reservoirs and pump stations, is already 100% complete.
Package 2, which includes the main pipeline from Nhlangano to Zombodze, is 90% complete.
Package 3, covering the pipeline from Zombodze to Siphambanweni, is progressing steadily at 26% completion
The visit underscored the government’s proactive approach to infrastructure delivery and accountability. With strong partnerships and consistent monitoring, both the Manzini and Nhlangano projects are making encouraging strides in securing sustainable water access for Emaswati.
These initiatives not only reflect progress but also embody the national vision of health, dignity, and prosperity through improved basic services.
