MDUMEZULU CELEBRATES LONG-AWAITED ROAD PROJECT

Africa-Press – Eswatini. Cheers and hope filled the air in Mdumezulu as the community gathered on May 14, 2025, to witness a long-awaited dream finally take shape — the launch of a vital road construction project.

For years, residents of Mdumezulu navigated a deteriorating road that made travel difficult, particularly during the rainy season. Despite its importance as a lifeline connecting schools, homes, and key local services, the road had remained untouched — until now.

Thanks to the persistence of community leaders and support from the Microprojects Programme, the first phase of construction has officially begun. The project, which will initially cover 500 meters due to budget constraints, is being implemented by Homeboy Construction. However, there is collective optimism that the full stretch will be completed in phases.

“This project means so much to us,” said Mdumezulu Member of Parliament Sifiso Shabalala. “We’ve been waiting a long time, and we are thankful our call was answered.”

The launch event was a celebration of community resilience and unity. Indvuna Mtiti Fakudze, speaking with heartfelt pride, welcomed guests and praised the spirit of togetherness that made the project possible.

Representing the Microprojects Programme, Ndumiso Dlamini encouraged locals to fully support the initiative. “This is your project. Let’s work together for its success,” he said. He urged the contractor to employ local workers and stressed the importance of protecting resources to ensure transparency and sustainability.

Beyond bricks and gravel, this project stands as a beacon of what communities can achieve through determination and collaboration. Mdumezulu’s journey toward improved infrastructure has officially begun — and with it, a brighter path forward.
