Africa-Press – Eswatini. The Asantehene, King of the Asante, has expressed deep appreciation for the strong bond of friendship between the Asante Kingdom and the Kingdom of Eswatini. This was demonstrated during a banquet held in honour of King Mswati III’s state visit to Ghana, where two gold chains were presented to the Eswatini monarchy.
The Asantehene gifted a 22-carat gold chain to His Majesty King Mswati III, while the Asantehemaa, Queen of the Asante Kingdom, presented a 22 carat gold chain to Inkhosikati LaMagongo.
In presenting the gifts, the Asantehene’s representative spoke of their significance: “Your Majesty, as you are undoubtedly aware, gold symbolises nobility, purity, and enduring value. In our culture, it signifies prosperity, excellence, and divine blessings. For these intrinsic qualities, the Asantehene deemed gold the most fitting gift. The links of the chains represent the omnipotence of God, guiding you in all your endeavours. We hope the relationship between the Kingdom of Eswatini and the Asante Kingdom will continue to strengthen. We present these 22-carat gold chains to you, symbolising the cherished friendship between our two realms, which we trust will endure forever.”
It was a glamorous night that saw His Majesty and Inkhosikati reciprocate with special gifts from Eswatini. The two kings and their spouses then shared the dance floor, and were soon followed by the younger royals of both households to round off what was, no doubt, a truly majestic evening.
