Africa-Press – Eswatini. Zwelinzima Vavi, the Secretary General of the South African Federation of Trade Unions(SAFTU) says King Mswati must dialogue with the pro-democracy and be a Constitutional Monarch or be overthrown.
The South African trade unionist was speaking on Saturday during the June 29 Massacre Commemoration held in Soweto, he was the Guest Speaker during the event.
“You can open the door to genuine dialogue and transition-where you are respected as a ceremonial cultural figure,like other monarchs in Africa and Europe. Or you can continue to rule with arrogance and force-and risk total rejection, collapse, and exile.The people will not wait forever,” he said.
On another note, Vavi called for sanctions against eSwatini while urging the African Union(AU) to suspend the country’s membership pending democratic reforms.
