Africa-Press – Eswatini. A total of 33 Emaswati golfers have been recognised for their outstanding performances during the FNB Eswatini Challenge pre-qualifiers, walking away with a share of E60,000 in cash prizes.

The initiative, spearheaded by First National Bank (FNB), aims to promote excellence among local golfers and to motivate them to compete not just locally, but at regional and international levels. The prize-giving ceremony took place yesterday at the Ezulwini Golf Club, where some of the most impressive performances of the tournament were honoured.

Leading the pack was Brandon Rennie, who walked away with the top cash prize of E20,000 following a remarkable display throughout the qualifiers. He was followed by James Pennington, who secured E11 200 for his strong finish and Vusi Gama who walked away with E 5 700. Several other Swazi golfers also received cash rewards, applauding the gesture as a much-needed incentive for local players.

FNB’s initiative to set aside E60 000 exclusively for top-performing Emaswati was warmly welcomed by the local golfing community, as it not only rewards hard work but also encourages greater participation in the sport.

Speaking on the event Brandon Rennie expressed his heartfelt gratitude to FNB for sponsoring the tournament saying that it gave them opportunity to compete amongst each other.

“I am very happy to stand infront of you as a qualifier am very grateful for that. A huge shout out to FNB for hosting this tournament annually to give us the opportunity to compete. They truly made the professional golf a development for golfers to compete in the SADC region.” Said Rennie.

The event served as a testament to the growing standard of golf in Eswatini, with local players now being given platforms to grow, gain exposure, and compete on equal footing with seasoned regional professionals.
