Africa-Press – Eswatini. It is now clear that, under the Tinkhundla undemocratic regime, the ultimate goal or agenda is to push all emaSwati including the working class, deeper into poverty hence the systematic delay in releasing the salary review report.

The truth is; civil servants are financially struggling in this country and therefore, a salary review remains an urgent matter, you cannot postpone a solution for hunger.

Civil servants marched to the Ministry of Public Service this week, demanding the urgent release of the salary review report and the question is; why do Government force public servants to march before the implementation of a salary review, which is an obligation in terms of labour laws.

Indeed, in terms of the collective bargaining principles, workers and employers are expected to negotiate as equals to establish fair terms and conditions of service and therefore, a protest march, or picket by workers demonstrates a breakdown in the bargaining and/or breach by the other party which in this regard, is the employer.

But in most instances, workers negotiate for better salaries on empty stomachs and the onus therefore, is upon the employer to appreciate the fact that, salary negotiations remains an urgent matter because, it involves or influenced by issues of the stomach.

It is therefore unjust for the eSwatini Government to adopt the delaying tactics in an attempt to postpone the implementation of the highly anticipated salary review report, civil servants including soldiers, the police and Correctional Services officers are literally struggling financially.

But apart from that, some teachers who are expected to be role models for the youth, are struggling to buy even quality clothes to look decent because we have a Government whose agenda is to see all emaSwati living in poverty.

Civil servants including teachers, nurses, security officers and all public workers are the machinery or the engine of the Tinkhundla system, it is therefore, in the best interest of this regime to ensure that, they are taken care-of.
