NEW PRIESTS BRING FRESH HOPE TO DIOCESE

Africa-Press – Eswatini. The Diocese celebrated more than renewed faith during its annual pilgrimage this past weekend, welcoming two new priests who will serve the faithful for the next two years.

At the conclusion of the Holy Mass, Bishop Jose Luis IMC introduced Frs. Philani Kunene and Ayanda Dlamini from the Diocese of Mariannhill, South Africa.

The bishop “ expressed gratitude to His Lordship Bp. Neil Frank OMI of Mariannhill for releasing the priests to serve in Eswatini. “This is a gift to our diocese, and we thank God for it,” Bishop Jose Luis said.

While announcing that their parish assignments will be communicated in due course, the bishop emphasized that their presence is a sign of hope and renewal for the local Church. “Priests walk with the people, they bring Christ to our homes, our families, and our communities,” he noted.

The pilgrimage, held under the Catholic Church’s universal jubilee theme “Hope does not disappoint” (Romans 5:5), included a nine-day novena, confession, counselling, healing services, spiritual talks, vibrant music and dance, and charitable outreach.

As part of his closing message, Bishop Jose Luis presented burners to parishes, encouraging the faithful to live out the works of mercy. Individuals also received prayer cards reminding them to put their faith into action. “A priest leads by serving, but every Christian is called to be a doer of mercy,” the bishop said.

The arrival of the two new priests added to the spirit of renewal brought by the pilgrimage. Parishioners expressed excitement and joy at walking this new journey of faith alongside them.
