Africa-Press – Eswatini. Access to higher education is no longer a distant dream for Mayiwane students, thanks to targeted guidance and empowerment initiatives spearheaded by Member of Parliament Sicelo Prince Khungankhosi Dlamini.

The Initiative came in response to a question posed by this publication’s reporter about the scholarship opportunities available to students in Mayiwane. On September 15, 2025, during a visit with Mbabane East MP Hon. Welcome Dlamini to the Eswatini Positive News offices.

During a courtesy call to His Majesty King Mswati III at Mandvulo Hall, MP Dlamini raised concerns that Mayiwane students were underrepresented in scholarship programs. He subsequently engaged the Ministry of Labour and Social Security, which visited the community to educate students on eligibility criteria and scoring requirements for government scholarships.

“The children were motivated and prepared themselves to meet the scholarship requirements,” MP Dlamini said. “As a result, many are now enrolled in universities and colleges. Those who did not qualify simply did not meet the necessary criteria, underscoring the importance of access to knowledge.”

MP Dlamini emphasized that this initiative demonstrates how proper guidance and information can empower youth to achieve academic success and contribute meaningfully to national development.

During their visit to Eswatini Positive News offices, MP Dlamini also commended the publication for highlighting positive stories and motivating the community. He acknowledged the newspaper’s contribution to job creation, noting that its 18 employees support approximately 180 people if one person feed 10 people.

Additionally, MP Dlamini reaffirmed his stance on retirement, encouraging those aged 60 and above to step aside to create opportunities for younger members of the workforce.

The visit highlighted the critical role of education, youth empowerment, and positive storytelling in shaping a brighter future for Eswatini.
