Africa-Press – Eswatini. The Umbutfo Eswatini Defence Force (UEDF) has once again demonstrated its unwavering commitment to protecting the nation’s borders, following the successful interception of a suspected stolen vehicle during routine patrols in the Sicunusa operational area.
The vigilant troops controlled and intercepted a white Toyota GD6 extra cab with registration number LGZ 061 MP. Upon realizing the presence of security forces, the suspects abandoned the vehicle and fled the scene. The swift response of the troops ensured that the suspected stolen vehicle was safely recovered and later handed over to the relevant law enforcement agency for further investigation, in line with standard procedures.
The Defence Force has expressed serious concern over the continued rise in cross-border criminal activities, including vehicle smuggling, dagga trafficking, and livestock theft. These illegal activities threaten national security and the livelihoods of citizens.
UEDF Commander has commended the troops for their dedication and professionalism in safeguarding all areas of responsibility. He also issued a stern warning against all forms of criminality along Eswatini’s borders, reaffirming the Defence Force’s commitment to maintaining law and order.
“Our troops continue to display outstanding commitment to protecting our nation. We caution all those involved in illegal activities that the UEDF remains alert and ready to act decisively,” said UEDF Public Affairs Officer, Lieutenant Tengetile Khumalo.
Through consistent vigilance and coordinated efforts with other security agencies, the Defence Force continues to make significant strides in curbing border-related crimes, reinforcing Eswatini’s security and stability.
