Africa-Press – Eswatini. The countdown is on for the Region 5 Marathon, set for Sunday, 12 October 2025, at the iconic Union Buildings in Tshwane, with excitement reaching fever pitch among Southern Africa’s top runners.
With E50 000 up for grabs for both the 21.1km male and female winners, this year’s marathon promises not only a test of endurance but also fierce competition, attracting elite athletes from across the region.
The race will include distances such as the 21km and 10km, the 5km and Fun Run and a 1 Mile race for athletes with disabilities with entry fees of E80 for the 5km, E150 for the 10km, and E3200 for the 21km. All participants are encouraged to register before entries close at midnight on 7 October 2025.

The introduction of a E50 000 prize purse for the 21.1km winners marks a significant milestone in the marathon’s growth, reflecting its increasing prestige and the rising standards of competition.
Organisers are urging athletes to register immediately to secure their spots in what promises to be the most competitive Region 5 Marathon yet, where speed, endurance, and strategy could earn a substantial reward.
