Africa-Press – Eswatini. Inyatsi Group Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Derrick Shiba has been appointed as the new Chairperson of the Board of Directors of the Eswatini National Provident Fund (ENPF).

Shiba, along with ten other board members, was officially appointed on Wednesday, October 8, 2025, by Minister of Labour and Social Security Phila Buthelezi in Mbabane.

The ten other appointees are:

E. Nathie Dlamini – CEO of Business Eswatini, appointed Deputy Chairperson
Makhosini Mndawe – Principal Secretary, Ministry of Labour and Social Security

Kingdom Mamba – Acting Commissioner of Labour

Tokkie Hou – Chairperson, Business Women Eswatini (BWE)

Phila Mthethwa – Representative of the Trade Union Congress of Swaziland (TUCOSWA)

Khanyisile Dube – Ministry of Finance, returning to the Board

Futhie Tembe – CEO of ENPF, serving also as Secretary to the Board

Many of the members were appointed in absentia due to prior commitments outside the country. Minister Buthelezi emphasized that despite their absence, they would assume their roles to carry out the Board’s important mandates.

Key Mandates for the New Board

Minister Buthelezi highlighted two main priorities for the new Board:

Conversion from Provident Fund to Pension Fund – The previous Board, led by TUCOSWA Secretary General Mduduzi Gina, had initiated this process. The new Board is expected to continue this work and ensure its completion.

Growth Target of E100 Billion by 2075 – His Majesty King Mswati III set this ambitious goal during ENPF’s 50th Anniversary Celebration on July 11, 2025, at the Mavuso Exhibition and Trade Centre in Manzini. The target aims to improve the financial security and quality of life for all ENPF members.

The Minister urged the new Board to prioritise the interests of ENPF members, work closely with the executive committee, and remember that their appointment is a government mandate.

Derrick Shiba Pledges Commitment

New Board Chairperson Derrick Shiba expressed gratitude to Minister Buthelezi for the appointment and called for prayers and cooperation from ENPF stakeholders.

“We face a mammoth task of turning around the fortunes of the company. We will adopt the spirit of Nkwe and work towards achieving the goals and objectives of ENPF, including implementing the mandates set by Government and His Majesty the King,” Shiba said.

He thanked King Mswati III for his visionary leadership and promised that the Board would strive to realize the King’s vision for the Fund and its members.
