Africa-Press – Eswatini. Farmers in Mahlangatsha now have easier access to essential livestock services following the official opening of the Nkonono Dipping Tank by the Minister of Agriculture, Mandla Tshawuka, a milestone praised as a major relief for the local farming community.
The new facility brings vital dipping services closer to farmers, eliminating the need to travel long distances and helping to maintain healthier, more productive livestock.
During the launch on Thursday, November 27, 2025, Minister Tshawuka encouraged farmers to take advantage of the Government Bull Loan Scheme, which enables them to improve the quality and genetics of their herds. “Better breeds lead to better market returns,” he said, highlighting the importance of strategic investments in livestock for sustainable profits.
The Minister also issued a strong warning against wildfires, noting the severe damage they cause to grazing land and livestock productivity. He urged the community to actively prevent fires, emphasizing that safeguarding grazing areas saves both livestock and money.
Addressing the issue of stock theft, Minister Tshawuka assured farmers that the government is working on stricter laws to protect their hard-earned assets. On the topic of Foot and Mouth Disease, he thanked farmers for maintaining a clean record in the area and urged them to continue following veterinary guidelines and cooperate with government officers to remain disease-free.
In his closing remarks, the Minister encouraged farmers to view livestock farming as a viable business. “Farm for profit,” he said, emphasizing that with dedication and proper management, livestock farming has the potential to provide a decent and sustainable living.
The opening of Nkonono Dipping Tank is expected to improve livestock health, strengthen the local farming economy, and inspire more farmers to invest in quality livestock production.
