Africa-Press – Eswatini. The Principal Secretary in the Ministry of Justice and Constitutional Affairs, Dorcas Dlamini, has applauded government for intensifying the country’s anti-corruption drive, saying recent reforms are beginning to deliver meaningful progress.
This remarks was shared on Tuesday December 9,2025 during the International Anti-Corruption Day 2025 commemoration held under the theme “Uniting With Youth Against Corruption: Shaping Tomorrow’s Integrity,” Dlamini said government’s strengthened support for the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) demonstrates a clear national commitment to rebuilding public trust.
“We must commend Government for making the strengthening of the Anti-Corruption Commission a priority,” she said. “The gains from this investment are beginning to show.”
She highlighted the Tripartite Task Team, established to investigate complex corruption cases, as a landmark reform signalling government’s seriousness. She further noted the deployment of 10 Police Officers to the ACC specifically to assist in clearing the backlog of cases, improving the speed and efficiency of investigations.
The continuous training of ACC officers, she added, is boosting institutional capacity and professional standards.
The Principal Secretary reminded the audience that the push for stronger action arose directly from national concerns expressed during Sibaya 2023, where emaSwati openly demanded tougher measures against corruption.
“His Majesty the King issued a clear policy directive after Sibaya, making the fight against corruption a top priority. His leadership has set the tone for the entire nation,” she said.
She also referenced findings from the 2017 National Corruption Perception Survey, which revealed that 93% of citizens perceive corruption as widespread, while 49% admit they would tolerate it if they stood to benefit. Dlamini described this tolerance as alarming and urged society to confront it head-on.
Despite these challenges, she expressed optimism. “With government’s commitment and the active involvement of our youth, we can change the current narrative,” she said. “Together, we can build a future where honesty and integrity guide our society.”
