DR MANDLENKHOSI DLAMINI RETURNS TO LEAD SEDCO BOARD

Africa-Press – Eswatini. Dr Mandlenkhosi Dlamini, Chief Executive Officer of the Examinations Council of Eswatini (ECESWA), has been reappointed as Chairperson of the Small Enterprises Development Company (SEDCO), returning to the role for a second three-year term.

The announcement was made on Wednesday, 17 December 2025, by the Minister for Commerce, Industry and Trade, Honourable Manqoba Khumalo, during a media briefing held at the Ministry’s boardroom in Mbabane. Dr Dlamini’s reappointment reflects Government’s continued confidence in his leadership and vision for the development of micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in Eswatini.

Holding a PhD in Curriculum and Instructional Design, Dr Dlamini brings a wealth of academic expertise and institutional leadership experience to the SEDCO Board. As he begins his second term, he is expected to build on the progress made during his previous tenure, applying lessons learned to further strengthen entrepreneurship and business development across the country.

Also returning to the Board is Beauty S. Mavuso, ACCA Part 1, who will serve her second term as a Board member alongside Dr Dlamini. The continuity provided by returning members is expected to enhance stability and institutional memory, while supporting effective decision-making.

Minister Khumalo described the newly appointed Board as “well positioned to provide strategic oversight to SEDCO as it continues to support the growth and sustainability of micro, small, and medium enterprises”. He explained that Board members were selected based on merit, integrity, inclusivity and their relevance to SEDCO’s mandate.

“The Government expects these Boards to provide strategic leadership, ensure sound financial management, and contribute meaningfully to the realisation of national economic development objectives,” the Minister said. He further reminded Board members of their fiduciary responsibilities and urged them to uphold the highest standards of corporate governance, ethical conduct and accountability.

Dr Dlamini welcomed his reappointment with gratitude, describing it as a clear sign of trust from both the Ministry and Cabinet. “Being appointed for a second term demonstrates confidence in our leadership. With continued support, we can do even more to strengthen businesses and empower entrepreneurs in Eswatini,” he said.

The reconstituted Board, which combines experience, professionalism and strategic insight, is expected to play a pivotal role in advancing SEDCO’s mission of fostering entrepreneurship, promoting business growth and contributing to sustainable national economic development.
