Africa-Press – Eswatini. The Government of Eswatini continues to demonstrate its commitment to inclusive development, social cohesion and citizen empowerment through a range of impactful initiatives rolled out across the country.
This was said by Prime Minister Russell Mmiso Dlamini. He said this on Tuesday, December 30, 2025 when delivering his End-of-Year speech, reflecting on how the year 2025 has been for Eswatini. Guided by the directive of His Majesty King Mswati III to “take Tinkhundla to the people,” government has intensified efforts to ensure that development reaches every community and improves the daily lives of Emaswati.
Bringing Tinkhundla Closer to the People
In line with the resolutions of Sibaya, Dlamini said Government has prioritised grassroots engagement and service delivery. His Majesty the King has led by example, personally visiting communities and launching development projects at Tinkhundla level. These engagements have strengthened the relationship between leadership and citizens while ensuring that development reflects the real needs of communities.
The Ministry of Tinkhundla Administration and Development, working together with the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development, conducted wide consultations on the Local Government Bill. These engagements aimed to strengthen governance structures and promote greater citizen participation in local development. In addition, a Public Engagement Mechanism was established to enhance communication between government departments and communities.
Through the Regional Development Fund, the premier said Government disbursed approximately E106 million to 74 community-based projects, directly benefiting 8 875 Emaswati and creating 317 jobs. These investments continue to stimulate local economies and improve livelihoods.
Strengthening Education and Skills Development
Significant progress was also recorded in the education sector, according to Dlamini. The Task Team appointed to investigate challenges at the University of Eswatini completed its work and submitted its findings, with implementation of recommendations already underway. Government also successfully rolled out the Competency-Based Education (CBE) curriculum, ensuring learners acquire practical skills aligned with labour market needs.
In strengthening the education workforce, Government filled 1 735 positions, including the permanent appointment of 1 311 teachers, a move that has enhanced stability and service delivery within the sector.
Empowering Youth Through Skills and Opportunity
Dlamini further stated that youth empowerment remained a central pillar of Government’s agenda. The Youth Enterprise Revolving Fund approved loans exceeding E4.5 million, with E3.4 million already disbursed to young entrepreneurs. A mentorship platform was also introduced, pairing experienced professionals with emerging entrepreneurs to strengthen business sustainability.
In addition, Dlamini said Government established regional arts centres and a recording studio to support creative industries. The Eswatini National Youth Council trained 115 young people in CV development, improving their employability. Furthermore, the launch of the Eswatini Youth Employment Opportunities Project, supported by the World Bank, is set to expand skills training, entrepreneurship and job creation, particularly within agricultural value chains.
Through these coordinated efforts, Government continues to build a resilient, inclusive and opportunity-driven nation for all Emaswati.
