Africa-Press – Eswatini. The Eswatini Tourism Authority (ESTA) conducted a mock grading assessment at Maguga Lodge on Monday, March 30, at Maguga Lodge putting its trained Grading Assessors and Committee members to work as part of the nationwide Accommodation Grading Programme.

This initiative, following intensive training in South Africa by experts from 3T Business Fusion, aims to raise service standards across lodges, hotels, and guesthouses, positioning Eswatini as a premium tourism destination.

The mock assessment enabled assessors to apply their newly acquired skills in a practical setting, evaluating establishments against internationally recognized benchmarks for service, cleanliness, facilities, and hospitality. The exercise is part of preparatory activities for the official rollout, which will see accommodation establishments graded across the country over the coming weeks.

The grading programme is designed to ensure consistency, professionalism, and high standards in the tourism sector. It provides visitors with clear guidance on quality accommodation and helps Eswatini strengthen its profile as a preferred regional destination.

Training for the assessors included modules on assessment procedures, scoring systems, customer service, health and safety compliance, and sustainable tourism practices. This comprehensive approach equips assessors to deliver accurate, fair, and transparent evaluations, ensuring that establishments meet and exceed expectations.

Tourism stakeholders anticipate that the programme will enhance guest confidence, encourage repeat visits, and promote the growth of high-quality accommodation throughout the country. By implementing structured grading standards, accommodation providers are expected to improve service delivery, attract more international visitors, and contribute to local economic growth and employment opportunities.

With the programme gaining momentum, ESTA is setting the stage for a new chapter in Eswatini tourism, one where quality, consistency, and hospitality are measured and celebrated. Visitors can look forward to memorable experiences in accommodation establishments that meet world-class standards, while the country solidifies its reputation as a top-tier travel destination in the region.
