Africa-Press – Eswatini. The Region V African Golf Championship, with the participation of Angola, South Africa, Namibia and Zimbabwe, starts to be played today, from 8:00 am, at the Mangais Resort Course, located in Barra do Kwanza, in Luanda.

According to a statement from the Angolan Federation of the sport (FAGOLFE), the event, which will take place until Thursday, is the most relevant in the southern part of the continent, under the responsibility of the Associação Africana de Golfe, which will be represented by the secretary-general, executive director, technical director and a referee.

The absences of the teams from Lesotho, Mozambique, Mauritius, Malawi, eSwatini, Zambia and Kenya so far. It is expected that the governing body, as co-organizer, will make a statement about not coming from these countries.

“Continuing the development of golf in Angola, the Angolan Federation of the sport ensured that the country would host one of the most important amateur competitions on the African calendar”, reads the document.

The Federation considers the involvement of governmental structures and media bodies to be important, as they are fundamental for its execution and success, as well as the support of brands and companies.

Yesterday was reserved for training and recognition of the Mangais Resort Championship. Starting today, players will compete for the best classification, with an emphasis on tomorrow, where the longest shot will be played.

The 28th is reserved for the award ceremony and the dinner that will mark the end of the competition. António Marçal “Toy”, António Luife, Nito Gomes and Pedro Paulo were elected by the National Team.
