Africa-Press – Eswatini. The Eswatini International Comedy Festival (ECOFEST) is gearing up for an exhilarating return, featuring the comedic talents of Aiden Ho from China and Frank Chirisa from Zimbabwe.
Set for September 26, 2025, at SibaneSami Hotel, this festival promises an unforgettable evening of laughter as it showcases both local and international comedic stars.
Aiden Ho is a unique blend of East and South comedy. By age 11, he was already crafting apology letters funnier than most stand-up sets, and he’s been chasing punchlines ever since. Drawing from Chinese “Xiang Sheng,” South African sarcasm, and a life split across continents, Aiden’s sets are rich with sharp wordplay, oddball insights, and that one accent you didn’t see coming.
Frank Chirisa, a powerhouse on the mic and the founder of the Burg Comedy Club. Over the past five years, Frank has turned everyday stories into unforgettable laughs. In 2023, he won the Matabeleland Award for Outstanding Comedian, and the previous year, he received a nomination at the Bulawayo Arts Awards. His one-man show, “Funny Stories That Heal,” was a hit at the Bulawayo Theater, showcasing his ability to connect with audiences through humor.
ECOFEST was founded by the charismatic Bonginkosi Dlamini, affectionately known as Dr. Shakes. His vision for the festival is to elevate local and emerging artists while showcasing the rich tapestry of humor from across Southern Africa. “This year, 2025 marks the second edition of ECOFEST, and we’re determined to make it even bigger and better than before,” he passionately expressed.
One of the most thrilling additions this year is a comedy search aimed at unearthing local talent from a university in the country. This initiative will grant a selected student comedian the incredible opportunity to share the stage with internationally acclaimed acts. Dlamini emphasizes, “We want to give our local comedians a platform to shine alongside established performers. It’s all about creating opportunities and fostering growth in our comedy scene.”
ECOFEST 2025 will feature an exciting lineup of comedic acts from various countries, including China, Botswana, Lesotho, South Africa, and of course, Eswatini. Dlamini promises that this year’s festival will be “bigger, better, and bolder than ever.” He assures us that if you thought last year was fantastic, this year’s festival will be a comedy extravaganza filled with humor, stand-up brilliance, and a lively atmosphere.
Comedy enthusiasts, take note. Tickets for ECOFEST 2025 are now on sale, with early bird tickets priced at just E120—available exclusively through Delta Pay. As the excitement builds, pre-sale tickets will be up for grabs at E150, while tickets purchased at the gate will be E200. The festival will unfold at the stunning Sibane Sami Hotel in Ezulwini, setting the perfect backdrop for an evening of hilarity.
