Africa-Press – Eswatini. The Ministry of Housing and Urban Development has announced that the stakeholder consultation meeting for Mankayane Town for the ongoing review of the Rating Act, 1995 will take place on Friday, August 15, 2025, at Siyakhula Hall, beginning at 2:00 PM.
This meeting forms part of a nationwide consultation exercise that began in February 2025, aimed at engaging various stakeholders in the development of a modern and equitable property rating system for Eswatini.
The consultations are being held in towns and municipalities across the country, including Manzini, Mbabane, Ezulwini, Matsapha, Nhlangano, and others.
According to the Ministry, the review of the Rating Act is a critical step in ensuring a fair and efficient framework for property taxation that supports sustainable urban development and improved municipal service delivery.
The current Act, which has been in place since 1995, is being revisited to align with present-day realities and the evolving needs of towns and urban areas.
Residents of Mankayane, including property owners, ratepayers, municipal officials, and other stakeholders, are strongly encouraged to attend and contribute their views during the meeting.
“The Ministry is committed to an inclusive and transparent review process. We believe that the voices of local stakeholders are essential in shaping a property rating system that is both fair and responsive to community needs,” the Ministry stated.
Details for meetings in other towns are being communicated through the respective local authorities.
For further information, members of the public are advised to contact the Mankayane Town Board or the Urban Government Department under the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development.
