Africa-Press – Eswatini. Wander Mkhonza, the Secretary General of the Amalgamated Trade Union of Swaziland(ATUSWA) had his home at Thunzini petrol bombed on Wednesday morning after leading thousands of workers into a strike action in demand for a salary increment.
Reached for comments, Mkhonza confirmed the bombing but urged textile workers not to lose focus.
“This is just meant to divert focus from us as Trade Union leaders and the workers to stop demanding the R15.00 per hour. I would like to urge workers not to lose focus”, said the ATUSWA Secretary General.
Superintendent Phindile Vilakati, the police Spokesperson, had not responded at the time of compiling this report.
On Wednesday, police were deployed at Nhlangano textile companies to force the workers to go back to work, however most of them are standing their ground in demand for a salary increment.
