Africa-Press – Eswatini. AFTER a two-year conditional break, the Eswatini Biggest Braai event is back with a bang. This was confirmed by Philani Maswati Chairperson Lutfo Dlamini,who said the event will be held on July 22 at the Mavuso Sports Centre.
Dlamini stated that a number of sponsors were already showing interest in supporting this year’s event ,and that the Eswatini Investment Promotion Authority (EIPA) had already sponsored the fundraiser by availing the Mavuso Sports Centre as a venue, which the chairperson appreciated. The Eswatini Biggest Braai is a fundraiser event, whose purpose is to accumulate funds to assist in Philani Maswati projects all over the country.
Philani Maswati is a non-profit organisation whose patron is Her Majesty Indlovukazi and its mission is to assist elderly people in the country.
Food The event was first launched in 2015 and since then, individuals and businesses from all walks of life all convened in one place and have been treated to good food and music, while also promoting their businesses.
However, for the past two years; 2020 and 2021, the event could not be held due to the COVID-19 pandemic. During this period, Dlamini said the organisation struggled to make ends meet as there were not enough funds to finance major projects.
In 2019, proceeds that were made from the fifth edition of the event were used to complete Philani Maswati’s old age home in Dvokolwako. Further, Dlamini said an official launch of the event would be held soon, where this year’s theme would be unveiled.
Meanwhile, he encouraged Emaswati and all supporters of the initiative to take their COVID-19 jab in readiness for the event.
