Charles Ndlovu,the Ngudzeni Member of Parliament(MP) is allegedly on the run after being released from police custody by the Station Commander, he is facing drink and driving charges and now, might possibly face additional resisting arrest and failure to appear in court charges.
The MP who was from Parliament, was arrested on Wednesday night around 10pm by Hluthi traffic police officers, he subsequently harassed the cops telling them that “as an MP, he can’t be detained by junior officers” and the cops subsequently threw him behind bars.
But the Station Commander allegedly intervened and ordered the junior cops to release the MP on his own cognisance, he then warned him to appear in court the following day.
“The Station Commander became his surety that he will appear in court the following morning but, he later disappeared, nyalo Commander akati kutsi utasibukelwa ngubani ngoba we told him that, the MP must be detained”, said a police officer at Hluthi.
Efforts to reach the MP proved unsuccessful as his cellphone rang unanswered while Senior Superintendent Phindile Vilakati declined to comment.
On another note, Hluthi police officers are still looking for the MP so he can be re-arrested and face his alleged drink and driving charges.
