Africa-Press – Eswatini. The British High Commission has held its first birthday party in celebration of King Charles III.
The event was attended by government officials including Prime Minister Russell Dlamini and Deputy Prime Minister Thuli Dladla as well as ministers.
British High Commissioner Simon Boyden during the celebration stated that it was no exaggeration to say that King Charles, as he marked the start of his 76th year on Tuesday, has already demonstrated the same commitment, dedication and humility as His Mother in his rather lengthy 65-year apprenticeship, which began with him being conferred with the title of Prince of Wales in 1958.
Boyden recalled the Prince of Wales was criticised in the 1970s and 1980s for his supposedly unorthodox or ‘wacky’ views on nature, the environment and biodiversity.
He said in all honesty, the prince was an environmentalist and ecologist before anyone really knew how to spell the word.
“Twenty-six years later, we continue to engage in a number of different ways, not only at a government-to-government level, but both bilaterally and through the various multilateral development agencies active in the country, but also at a community level,” Boyden stated.
