Africa-Press – Eswatini. Country music first lady Cleopatra Methula has won another award at the Texas Sound International Country Music Awards.
This was revealed by the artist yesterday. Cleopatra is the first female country musician to win and perform at Texas Sounds International Country Music Awards held in Texas. She won the first award in 2019.
She has won the very same award over the past weekend. SWAMA Pro Zoe Genesis congratulated the singer.
“She is a trendsetter, and a true global icon from Eswatini. Well done Cleopatra Methula and her sister Temlandvo for clinching yet another international accolade. We are truly excited as an industry, as her win demonstrates how our music has come of age. We really commend Cleopatra for her determination to lift our flag high on global stages; and we hope she will become an inspiration to many young artists in Africa,” she said.
Eswatini National Council of Arts and Culture CEO Stanley Dlamini said he noticed a few different things Cleopatra did that includes representing the country as she was always wearing the Swati attire and always posed next to the country’s flag.
Dlamini pleaded with government to start investing in the creative industry, because artists have proven not once but more than once that their work was seen internationally.
“This calls for a celebration for our creative sector, because this shows that the industry has developed. Every artist from Eswatini will now be taken serious internationally because the industry has made a name for the country. Our arts can now compete meaningfully with the international world.
Our artists need to go beyond passionate about music but also go the extra mile into professionalism. Congratulations Cleopatra for consistently raising the Eswatini flag sky high, setting the bar for local arts, representing us so well,” he added.
Despite COVID-19 and the world politics, Texas Sounds International CMA continued without cancelling any performance. And now in 2022, they moved into a newly remodelled performance centre. Memorial City Hall Performance Centre in Marshall, Texas is their new home. This luxurious theatre sits 552 people on the main floor and balcony.
