Africa-Press – Eswatini. Zweli Martin Dlamini, the editor has warned the Nation not to blame or attribute all the fight against King Mswati saying there are other political, business and State controlled media elements who are “not comfortable with the existence and growth of this publication”.
The editor said, the emergence of this publication has over the years, changed the media landscape and as a result, Paul Loffler, the owner of the Times was forced to sell his publication he has been running for years while some State controlled editors and journalists were rendered irrelevant such that, even Cabinet sources started to trust this publication with sensitive information.
Dlamini said, the number of copies sold by the Times and Observer dropped drastically while multibillion corrupt deals worth billions were exposed by this publication particularly, the shortage of drugs scandal.
As a result, those who were exposed have captured the State controlled media to try and attack Swaziland News, a huge budget has been allocated even for the creation of online propaganda platforms to try and counter this publication.
“I am not saying the King is clean but he demonstrated through his Spokesperson that he had no problem responding and account on issues of public interest. If he had no Spokesperson to clarify his position, those who were attempting to suffocate this publication could have said they were doing that to protect the King yet, the dangerous cabal around Mswati is huge and people are having sleepless night as this publication continues to expose corruption,” said the editor.
The editor said, the King might not be clean but, those around him normally use his name to push a certain corrupt agenda.
“When they attack you saying they are protecting the King, you can even conclude that, they were sent by him and if you don’t have intelligence to verify information from the Palace, you will conclude that it’s Mswati only to find that he is not even aware of what those around him are doing using his name,” said the editor.
The editor said, he wants the King to be held accountable based on what he did and those around him must also be investigated “dragged out of emajobeni eNkhosi” and be exposed.
