Africa-Press – Eswatini. Nominations for the 16th Crown Gospel Awards are officially open on various social and digital media platforms.
Local gospel acts can apply for nomination under the Best of Africa category.
This was disclosed by Larry Mhlanga, the Operations Manager of World Gospel Powerhouse.
“Local gospel artists can nominate themselves under the Best of Africa category. In the past, there have been local gospel artists who were nominated and who won. There is, however, a joininng fee of E1 200,” he stated.
Gospel artists, fans, record labels, and managers are encouraged to nominate their favourite artists by filling forms and sending them to [email protected]. The forms are available on www.cgma.co.za or WhatsApp +27 73 581 9043.
In the past, winners in the award show included the likes of Nduduzo Matse and Ncandweni Christ Ambassadors – who won for the Best Traditional Gospel Award.
This year’s edition of the Crown Gospel Music Awards will consist of 25 categories, including a new special category called ‘The People’s Choice Award’. This was disclosed by an official press statement of the 16th Crown Gospel Music Awards 2023.
“This category is only open for the public to nominate and vote for the best song via the Crown Gospel Music Awards social and digital media platforms,” it stated.
Rofhiwa Nethengwe, the World Gospel Powerhouse Executive, responsible for nominations and judging stated that these categories kept fans delighted and in anticipation.
“This People’s Choice Award category together with the Best Gospel song and artists’ categories definitely keep the fans delighted and on the edge of their seats anticipating an entertaining awards show,” she said.
The founder and Executive Producer of the Crown Gospel Music Awards, Zanele Mbokazi, urged all parties concerned to nominate before the closing date as there will not be any extensions.
“We are urging artists, producers and engineers to come out and nominate themselves before the closing date which is September 30, 2023 at 11:59pm. There won’t be any extension once the entries close,” she advised.
