Africa-Press – Eswatini. Thulisile Dladla,the Deputy Prime Minister(DPM) says providing contraceptives to children would allow old men to have sex with teenagers with impunity knowing that,there’s an alternative to prevent pregnancy.
Responding to Senators who wanted to know what Government was doing to ensure that,teenagers have access to contraceptives as means to fight teenage pregnancy,the DPM said the law must be enforced on anyone who impregnates a child.
The sentiments of the DPM come amid escalating cases of children who dropped out of school due to pregnancy,some of the school children as young as thirteen(13)years were impregnated by old men.
“Honorable Senators,we need to be careful and be responsible on this issue,if we officially promote a narrative suggesting that,children must have access to contraceptives we are giving the perpetrators a gateway to impregnate the children knowing that,there’s an alternative.We need to enforce the law here,anyone who impregnates a child must go to jail”,said the Deputy Prime Minister when responding to Senators inside Parliament last week.
