Africa-Press – Eswatini. Emlembe Water has thrown its weight behind women’s boxing with a cool E10 000 boost for the Eswatini Biggest Braai.
The local water brand made the bold move on Wednesday during an official handover ceremony at its Matsapha offices, where officials from Philani Maswati Charity Organization were all smiles as they received the donation.
The sponsorship will go directly into fuelling the women’s boxing tournament, which is set to be one of the major highlights at this year’s charity-driven braai, slated for July 26 at the Mavuso Trade and Exhibition Centre.
This is evident that corporate support continues to pour in for the Eswatini Biggest Braai as the event shapes up.
Speaking at the handover, Emlembe Director Jordan Lavendale described the gesture as the beginning of a meaningful partnership, not just for the event, but for future collaborations aimed at community upliftment.
“We’re big on relationships, and we view this as the start of something meaningful,” he said.
“We’ve had long-term partnerships with other institutions, and we look forward to building something similar here. Our E10 000 sponsorship is dedicated to the women’s boxing tournament, which we’re extremely excited about. Supporting women is embedded in our company ethos.”
Echoing his words was fellow Director Paula Marques, who underlined Emlembe Water’s continued commitment to empowering the youth and women through sports.
“We’ve always supported youth development and women’s sports, including soccer and now boxing,” Marques said.
“It’s encouraging to see events like this creating platforms for women to shine, and we’re proud to be part of it.”
Philani Maswati Charity Organization Chairman Lutfo Dlamini welcomed the contribution with open arms, praising Emlembe Water for joining hands in a cause that merges fitness, empowerment and charity.
“Empowering women through sports like boxing is a significant step, and we are grateful to Emlembe Water for recognising that,” Dlamini said.
He also gave flowers to Jordan Lavendale’s father, Wayne Lavendale, for his consistent support to the people of Eswatini over the years.
The women’s boxing tournament will bring together fighters from all four regions of Eswatini, with the ultimate champion pocketing E7 000. The finals are expected to draw massive crowds at Mavuso, where meat, music and motivation will be on full blast.
The 2025 edition of the Eswatini Biggest Braai is shaping up to be a showstopper, thanks to an impressive line-up of sponsors. Robertsons Spices is headlining the event with a sizzling E500 000 sponsorship, while Embiveni Meats has forked out E350 000. Eswatini Mobile is also in the mix, having pledged 11 smartphones and a cashless payment system to elevate the experience.
Betting giant eBet joined the party with E35 000, while a generous couple from outside the country chipped in a whopping E100 000 towards the cause.
As the firewood stacks up and the excitement builds, one thing is clear, this year’s Eswatini Biggest Braai isn’t just about meat, it’s about making a difference.
