Africa-Press – Eswatini. Minister of Labour and Social Security Phila Buthelezi has praised the Eswatini National Provident Fund (ENPF) for its five decades of service, describing it as a “pillar of national stability and hope” during his keynote address at the fund’s 50th anniversary celebration.

The prestigious event, held at the Mavuso Exhibition and Trade Centre on July 11, 2025, was graced by Their Majesties King Mswati III and Her Majesty the Indlovukazi, along with a host of dignitaries and stakeholders from across the kingdom.

“It is with immense honour and profound humility that I stand before Your Majesties and all gathered here today to extend a most heartfelt welcome to this momentous occasion,” said the minister, extending his gratitude for the monarchs’ presence, which he said elevated the event’s significance and underscored the royal family’s dedication to national welfare.

Buthelezi celebrated ENPF’s transformation from a vision laid down by King Sobhuza II into a cornerstone of Eswatini’s social protection framework. “This institution… has grown into a cornerstone of our social protection system — a true pillar of national stability and hope,” he said.

Reflecting on the Fund’s growth, he noted that its journey had been marked by “prudent management, strategic foresight, and a deep understanding of the evolving needs of our labour force.” He emphasized that ENPF had not only provided retirement benefits but also crucial support during times of need.

The minister also took time to honour past and present board members, executives, staff, and the fund’s over 300 000 contributing members for their continued trust and dedication.

“May this celebration serve as a joyous affirmation of our collective commitment to building a more secure, inclusive, and prosperous Eswatini for all,” Buthelezi said in conclusion, setting a hopeful tone for the institution’s next 50 years.

The ENPF, established in 1974 by King Sobhuza II, has grown into one of Eswatini’s most trusted institutions, managing billions in assets and preparing for a transition into a fully-fledged pension fund.
