Africa-Press – Eswatini. When Ambrose Mefika Nkambule left the bank where he had worked for 17 years, he carried a single question: where can my money truly be safe? He had seen too many people lose their life savings to flashy schemes that vanished overnight. Then, he walked into the Eswatini National Provident Fund (ENPF), fondly known as Lidlelantfongeni, and, in his own words, “found peace of mind and a home for my money.”
Nkambule recalls, “The staff did not just tell me to invest; they counselled me and showed me how my savings would be protected. That’s how I was introduced to the supplementary contributions option.”
This supplementary scheme allows members and their employers to make voluntary top-ups beyond the required statutory contributions. It gives members flexibility, boosts retirement benefits, and builds financial resilience.
“I started saving again, this time with purpose,” Nkambule says. “I even registered my employees in the taxi business I started. Later, I added my wife, and we both save and reinvest every two and a half years. The growth has been remarkable. No one gives interest like Lidlelantfongeni.”
A Home for Safe and Rewarding Savings
That sense of safety and reward has become ENPF’s hallmark. With its commitment to transparency, sound governance, and member-first stewardship, the Fund stands tall as Eswatini’s most trusted investment institution.
At a time when other financial entities often offer modest single-digit returns, ENPF continues to raise the bar. For the financial year ending June 30, 2025, the Fund declared an impressive 10% member interest, following last year’s 11%. This track record cements its reputation as a beacon of sustainability and trust.
The Lidlelantfongeni Stakeholder Recognition Awards, now in its second edition, celebrated this culture of financial discipline and foresight. Hosted by CEO Futhi Tembe at the Fund’s headquarters in Manzini, the event recognised members who have consistently demonstrated saving discipline, ethical stewardship, and leadership in financial planning.
Tembe lauded the awardees, saying: “This ceremony is not just about awards; it’s about honouring members who go above and beyond to secure their retirement and inspire others. Your dedication strengthens ENPF’s mission and sets a benchmark for excellence in social security.”
She added that ENPF remains committed to providing innovative, secure, and member-driven financial solutions, ensuring a prosperous future for all emaSwati.
