Africa-Press – Eswatini. The Minister of Tinkhundla Development and Administration, Sikhumbuzo Dlamini, has urged Members of Parliament to ensure the Tinkhundla Local Government Bill of 2024 is passed as it is the solution to the challenges faced by the system.
The Minister, making his remarks during a symposium held at the Tums George Hotel in Manzini, shed light on the opportunities the Bill presents to address long-standing issues within the Tinkhundla System of Government.
“The Tinkhundla Local Government Bill is a solution to the challenges that have plagued the Tinkhundla System for years,” Dlamini stated, underscoring the need for greater attention to rural infrastructure, particularly feeder roads.
“In far-flung rural areas, these issues hinder development, but once this Bill is enacted, it will streamline our response and improve efficiency within the government,” he added.
Dlamini characterized the proposed legislation as complex yet essential, urging Members of Parliament (MPs) to apply themselves diligently in the drafting and evaluation process.
“This Bill is long overdue. It represents a command from His Majesty King Mswati III, and it is your responsibility as Legislators to ensure its passage during your current term,” he urged.
