Africa-Press – Eswatini. The Eswatini Olympic and Commonwealth Games Association (EOCGA) successfully held a strategic planning workshop which aims to strengthen strong foundation guide to the direction of Commonwealth sports in the Kingdom of Eswatini over the weekend at Orion Hotel in Piggs Peak.
The two-day workshop was led by renowned sports management expert Mr. Robert Mutsauki, whose extensive experience in Olympic and sports development frameworks added tremendous value to the process. The gathering brought together representatives from various National Federations and key stakeholders within the Eswatini sports ecosystem.
According to EOCGA, the workshop aimed to lay a robust strategic foundation to guide the future direction of Olympic and Commonwealth sport in the Kingdom of Eswatini. Discussions centred on sustainable sport development, governance enhancement, capacity building, athlete support structures, and creating a high-performance environment.
“We are honoured to welcome Mr. Mutsauki to Eswatini. His proven track record across Africa is exactly what we need as we lay the groundwork for long-term Olympic success.” said EOCGA CEO, Maxwell Jele.
The engagement underscores Eswatini’s commitment to aligning with global standards of sports administration and performance excellence, while learning from best practices on the continent.
Participants engaged in group sessions, presented federation specific challenges, and identified collaborative opportunities to grow and professionalize sport at all levels. As the EOCGA prepares for upcoming international competitions, including the Paris 2024 Olympics and the Victoria 2026 Commonwealth Games, the outcomes of this workshop are expected to inform policy and operational decisions in the coming years.
The EOCGA is set to compile the workshop’s outcomes into a strategic roadmap that will guide the next phase of Olympic sport development in Eswatini.
