Africa-Press – Eswatini. The Eswatini Institute of Accountants (ESIA) has wrapped up its regional school visits by celebrating top Accounting students in Hhohho and Manzini.
The final leg of the nationwide tour saw the ESIA team visit Londunduma High School in Hhohho to honour Thwala Zethu, the region’s top EGCSE Accounting performer, followed by a stop at St. Michael’s High School where Mkhonta Nokwanda was recognised as Manzini’s best.
Each received a E500 cash prize, sponsored by veteran businessman Walter Bennett.
Addressing the learners, ESIA Executive Director Dr. Ndiphete Mabila encouraged students to focus on personal growth and consistency.
“Do not compete with others, compete with yourself. Strive to be better than you were yesterday,” he said.
He explained that the regional visits aimed to raise awareness about Accounting careers and motivate students to pursue qualifications such as Registered Accountant RA(SD) and Chartered Accountant CA(SD).
“We want learners to understand that the accounting profession offers many pathways to leadership, entrepreneurship, and national development,” said Dr. Mabila.
The initiative forms part of ESIA’s broader school outreach programme, which earlier recognised top Accounting students in the Shiselweni and Lubombo regions.
“We are not only celebrating excellence, but planting seeds for the future of the profession,” added Mabila.
Deputy Headteacher at Londunduma High School, Vusie Khumalo, applauded the initiative.
“This recognition from ESIA means a lot to our school and to Zethu. It sends a message to all learners that hard work truly pays off,” he said.
Walter Bennett, who sponsored the E500 prize for each regional winner, said he was proud to support education and the accounting profession.
“I believe in rewarding excellence. These young people deserve to be celebrated and encouraged,” he said.
ESIA also expressed appreciation to school leadership and educators for their commitment to producing outstanding results.
As the tour concluded, ESIA reaffirmed its commitment to continue investing in youth empowerment, school engagement and the professional development of future accountants in Eswatini.
