Africa-Press – Eswatini. The Kingdom of Eswatini has conveyed its deepest sympathies to the Republic of India following a devastating terrorist attack at Baisaran Valley, which claimed the lives of at least 28 people.

In a statement issued by Prime Minister Russell Dlamini, the nation expressed heartfelt condolences on behalf of His Majesty King Mswati III, Her Majesty the Queen Mother, the Government, and the people of Eswatini.

Prime Minister Dlamini described the attack as a “brutal and senseless act of terrorism,” condemning it in the strongest possible terms.

He stressed that such violence, targeting innocent civilians, stands as an affront to humanity and cannot be justified under any circumstances.

The Government of Eswatini affirmed its full solidarity with India during this period of mourning, offering prayers for the speedy recovery of those injured and comfort for the grieving families.

Prime Minister Dlamini emphasized Eswatini’s unwavering support for India as the country grapples with the aftermath of this tragedy.

Eswatini and India share warm and longstanding diplomatic relations rooted in mutual respect, development cooperation, and shared values as members of the Commonwealth.

India was among the first countries to establish diplomatic ties with Eswatini after its independence.

Over the years, India has supported Eswatini through capacity-building programs, scholarships under the Indian Technical and Economic Cooperation (ITEC) program, and various development projects in sectors such as agriculture, education, health, and information technology.

High-level visits and participation in multilateral forums have further strengthened the bond between the two nations.

Economic and cultural cooperation between Eswatini and India has also grown steadily. India has contributed to Eswatini’s development through lines of credit and grants for projects like the Information Technology Park and agricultural initiatives.

Trade between the two countries huge. During 2023, the top exports from Eswatini to India were Scrap Iron, scrap copper, and scrap aluminium.

On the other hand, the top exports from India to Eswatini were packaged medicaments, rice, and refined petroleum.

Cultural exchanges, including training programs and celebration of cultural days, have also played an important role in deepening people-to-people connections between Eswatini and India.
