United States (US) President Donald Trump has urged countries to fight for themselves and re-open the Strait of Hormuz as the Israel-United States war against Iran escalates in the Middle East, negatively affecting countries around the world amid shortage of fuel.

The Strait of Hormuz is a thirty-three kilometers (33km) wide maritime chokepoint between Iran and Oman, serving as the only sea passage from the Persian Gulf to the open ocean.

It handles roughly 20% of global oil consumption (approximately 20 million barrels/day) and 20% of liquefied natural gas, making it crucial for global energy security.

But as reported on Tuesday, the US President urged Nations feeling the strain from the closure of the Strait of Hormuz to fight and fix the situation themselves, he made the statement in a Truth Social post on Tuesday, calling out the United Kingdom in particular.

“All of those countries that can’t get jet fuel because of the Strait of Hormuz, like the United Kingdom, which refused to get involved in the decapitation of Iran, I have a suggestion for you: Number 1, buy from the U.S., we have plenty, and Number 2, build up some delayed courage, go to the Strait, and just TAKE IT. You’ll have to start learning how to fight for yourself, the U.S.A. won’t be there to help you anymore, just like you weren’t there for us. Iran has been, essentially, decimated. The hard part is done. Go get your own oil!” President Donald Trump wrote.

On another note, Eswatini is facing shortage of fuel as the war continues to negatively affects the tiny Kingdom and other African countries.
