Africa-Press – Eswatini. Eswatini’s cost of living continued to stabilise in November 2025, with the country’s annual inflation rate easing to 2.4 percent, marking a notable improvement in price stability and economic confidence.

According to the latest Consumer Price Index (CPI) Report released by the Central Statistical Office (CSO), the November inflation rate is 0.5 percentage points lower than October’s 2.9 percent and 1.3 percentage points below the 3.7 percent recorded in November 2024.

One of the most encouraging developments is the stabilisation of food and non-alcoholic beverage prices, which recorded zero annual inflation in November. This was driven by slower price increases in items such as milk, eggs, soft drinks, fruits and vegetables, while bread and cereals even recorded price declines.

The restaurants and hotels category showed a sharp improvement, recording a -5.2 percent annual change, reflecting reduced costs in accommodation and catering services. Inflation in alcoholic beverages and tobacco also slowed to 4.3 percent, compared to much higher levels a year ago.

Despite the overall moderation, housing and utilities, clothing and footwear, and education remained the main contributors to inflation. Housing and utilities alone contributed 1.2 percentage points to the headline rate.

On a monthly basis, inflation remained unchanged at 0.0 percent, confirming price stability between October and November. This balance reflects both easing and moderate price movements across key sectors.

Overall, the sustained moderation in prices supports household purchasing power and strengthens confidence in Eswatini’s economic outlook as the country heads into 2026.
