Eswatini National Provident Fund(Enpf) to Delay Payments for Fifteen(15) Years after Conversion, SNAT President Mbongwa Dlamini Warns Amid Gradual Take over of Pension Funds.

Africa-Press – Eswatini. Mbongwa Dlamini, the President of the Swaziland National Association of Teachers(SNAT) has warned emaSwati amid “what he describes as a gradual take-over of all Pension Funds in the country”.

Addressing a press conference this week, Dlamini said the Public Service Pension Fund(PSPF) was grabbed by the eSwatini Government and subsequently converted into a Category A Public Enterprise, he said this made the PSPF to be fully owned by the State instead of civil servants.

The Government in eSwatini is owned by King Mswati and this means by extension, the King is now the owner of the Public Service Pension Fund.

“The Pension Fund is owned by civil servants but after the conversion from Category B to Category A, it is now owned by the State and, civil servants cannot take decisions with regards to the administration of their money,” said the SNAT President.

The sentiments of the SNAT President come amid reports suggesting that, the ENPF might also be converted into a Pension Fund and, “workers will wait for fifteen(15) years more, before receiving their money”.

Before the proposed conversion of the ENPF, workers were receiving their money at the age of forty-five(45) but, the full implementation of the ongoing conversion will result to workers receiving their money at the age of sixty(60).
