Africa-Press – Eswatini. The Government of the Kingdom of Eswatini has reiterated its firm support for Taiwan’s meaningful participation in the upcoming United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) COP30, which is held in Belém, Brazil.
In a statement released by Eswatini Government, the administration expressed its belief that tackling the global climate crisis requires inclusive cooperation and shared responsibility among all nations and partners. The statement emphasised that addressing climate change effectively can only be achieved when every capable nation is given the opportunity to contribute to the collective effort.
The Government commended Taiwan for its innovation, resilience, and dedication to sustainable development, noting the country’s continued efforts in promoting environmental protection and green technologies. Taiwan’s achievements in renewable energy, waste management, and disaster resilience were recognised as examples of how practical solutions can drive meaningful change.
“Addressing the global challenge of climate change requires inclusive cooperation and shared commitment from all partners,” the statement read. “Taiwan has continuously demonstrated innovation, resilience, and dedication to advancing sustainable development and environmental protection.”
Eswatini reaffirmed its longstanding friendship with Taiwan, describing the nation as a committed partner in development and a valuable contributor to global sustainability efforts. The Kingdom stressed that excluding Taiwan from key international climate discussions would undermine the principles of fairness, inclusivity, and global solidarity that underpin the UN system.
The statement further underscored that no nation should be left behind in the collective effort to protect the planet. “Eswatini firmly believes that every capable partner should be allowed to play a role in shaping a greener, more sustainable world,” it said.
Eswatini’s support aligns with its broader commitment to international cooperation on climate action, especially as developing countries continue to face mounting environmental challenges. The Government noted that inclusive global participation was essential to achieving the targets set under the Paris Agreement and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
The Kingdom’s position also reflects its belief in shared responsibility, where nations with the capacity and expertise to drive innovation should be empowered to do so. Eswatini called for Taiwan’s inclusion in COP30 and other UNFCCC processes, noting that such participation would strengthen the global climate dialogue and enable the sharing of vital technological and scientific knowledge.
Through this reaffirmation, Eswatini continues to position itself as a champion of inclusivity and collaboration on the international stage, advocating for a unified approach to climate action. The Government reiterated that meaningful global progress depends on partnerships that transcend politics and prioritise the well-being of humanity and the planet.
As the world prepares for COP30 in Belém, Eswatini’s call serves as a reminder that the fight against climate change must be rooted in unity, inclusivity, and shared purpose — values that define the Kingdom’s approach to global engagement and sustainable development.
