Africa-Press – Eswatini. Mlamuli Dlamini, the Eswatini TV Chief Executive Officer(CEO) must be removed or suspended from the State owned media company amid allegations of corruption, that institution is funded with public funds and therefore, it is subject to public accountability.
Recently, Mlamuli and his gang of female Managers some who are alleged to be controlling him there, suspended about ten(10) workers merely for demanding a salary increment, the workers were accused of participating in union activities, what type of nonsense is this?.
The CEO was recommended by the then Information, Communications and Technology(ICT) Minister Princess Sikhanyiso and as a member of the royal family, he seems to be running the State owned media company like a family business.
In fact, we have a new problem in this country as almost all the people recommended by Princess Sikhanyiso are arrogant and messing-up State institutions because to them, this country is a family business and they cannot be questioned.
Now, the Eswatini TV employees have been told that they won’t receive their October salaries as they were suspended without pay, this is a gross violation of labour laws.
But because Eswatini TV is regarded as another “sihonco” by Mlamuli, the workers are on the streets now without jobs, their salaries have been unjustly frozen.
I am told that after being warned that he was violating labour laws by freezing the salaries, he then agreed to start paying the employees November salaries but not October wages.
NO, the Chief Executive Officer must not act like Eswatini TV is his personal property, we need the October salaries for the employees as a matter of urgency, you cannot just freeze someone’s salary without following the due process of the law.
Workers have bills and loans to pay, why is Mlamuli acting like this?.
Information Minister Savannah Maziya must take action and resolve the Eswatini TV CEO and workers stand-off, it seems we will soon have another Royal Science and Technology Park(RSTP) saga in Mlamuli Dlamini.
A State institution funded with public funds must be subjected to accountability and workers have a right to report alleged corruption because afterall, they are part of the institution and, should it collapse, they will be affected.
