The Eswatini women’s national cricket team has left the country bound for Botswana to compete in the 2025 ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Africa Division 2 Qualifier, taking place from July 18 to 27 2025. This tournament represents a critical first step on the road to the 2026 ICC Women’s T20 World Cup in England.
The squad of 14 players will face stiff competition in Group B against host nation Botswana, Mozambique, and Sierra Leone. The competition will be held at the Botswana Cricket Association Oval 1 and Oval 2 grounds in Gaborone. These eight participating teams from Division Two are battling to secure one of two coveted spots advancing them to the Division One Qualifier, scheduled for Namibia from August 31 to September 6, 2025.
This qualifier is pivotal, as the top two teams from Division One will advance to the Global Qualifier, bringing them closer to the world stage. For Eswatini, a team that has steadily grown since earning full WT20I (Women’s Twenty20 International) status in 2018, the tournament is an opportunity to prove themselves after past challenges in the 2021 Africa Qualifierz
