Africa-Press – Eswatini. HRH Prince Lonkhokhela, Minister of Natural Resources and Energy, has conducted a high-level inspection of the E1.6 billion Phuzumoya Strategic Fuel Reserve Facility, a national project designed to store 80 million litres of fuel and secure 60 days of uninterrupted national supply for Eswatini.

The Minister led senior Government officials, key stakeholders and media representatives through the fast-developing 25-hectare site under the Siphofaneni Constituency, reaffirming Government’s commitment to transparent reporting and strong oversight of this critical national asset.

Strong Momentum on the Ground

Upon arrival, the Minister was met with a site buzzing with coordinated construction activity. Engineers provided detailed briefings, highlighting that the project is firmly on track to bolster Eswatini’s energy security and shield the nation from global fuel market shocks.

Key Milestones Already Delivered

Major early-stage achievements include:

– Complete perimeter fencing of the expansive 25-hectare footprint

– Topsoil stripping completed across major development zones

– Borehole drilling for operational water supply

– Access road grading and compaction, including a widened entry point

– Excavation of the first four tank foundations, with Phase Two excavation in progress

– Full platform preparation for the site office and batch plant with gravel fill and compaction

These milestones reflect a well-coordinated rollout of Eswatini’s largest energy-security project to date.

Building Confidence, Stability and the Future

Officials noted that the Strategic Fuel Reserve will strengthen national resilience, stabilize supply chains and boost investor confidence by ensuring Eswatini remains well-buffered from international disruptions.

As HRH Prince Lonkhokhela concluded his tour, the message was clear: Eswatini is decisively investing in long-term energy stability, and the Phuzumoya facility is shaping up to be a cornerstone of that future.
