Africa-Press – Eswatini. A new chapter of hope is unfolding in Eswatini, as EWADE continues to ensure that development touches every life under the transformative E2.6 billion Mpakeni Dam project.
In a shining example of inclusive progress, 40 homesteads — comprising 58 households — have already been successfully resettled across Makhava, Mngayi, Mphelamandla, Lulakeni, Mbava, KaLiba, Sitilo, and Nsingizini. The families now enjoy the comfort of modern homes fitted with electricity, clean water tanks, VIP toilets, energy-efficient stoves, fencing, and fruit trees — offering a foundation for a better future.
Further strengthening this success story, eight more homesteads (17 households) are under active construction. Despite challenges such as weather and payment delays, the homes are scheduled for completion by June 2025. Already, over E45.5 million has been invested in construction, amenities, and vital relocation ceremonies — a testament to EWADE’s unwavering commitment.
In preparation for the next phase, resettlement sites under Qomintaba, Lushini, and KaLiba imiphakatsi have been earmarked, with more sites nearing finalisation. To fast-track quality and delivery, EWADE is launching a formal tender process, with opportunities to be advertised by April 2025 across multiple platforms including its website, local newspapers, and the SPPRA portal.
Government support remains strong, with an allocation of E83 million secured for the 2025/26 fiscal year. This funding ensures that by March 2026, 86 homesteads (134 households) will have been resettled — turning a grand vision into a heartwarming reality.
With every homestead built, EWADE is sowing the seeds of a sustainable and inclusive future, proving that true development leaves no one behind.
