FAITH AND FITNESS: REST IN CHRIST MINISTRIES BALANCES WORSHIP AND SPORTSMANSHIP

Africa-Press – Eswatini. In a world where the lines between spiritual growth and physical fitness often seem disconnected, Rest in Christ Ministries is bridging the gap with a powerful, holistic approach. By harmonizing worship with athletic competition, the ministry is proving that spiritual and physical disciplines can not only coexist but thrive together.

Rooted in a mission of holistic well-being, Rest in Christ Ministries has made a strong impact in Eswatini through a dynamic event that brought together churches across the country. The event, themed under the verse Philippians 2:2 — “Then make my joy complete by being like-minded, having the same love, being one in spirit and of one mind” — sought to strengthen unity among believers while encouraging healthy lifestyles.

Sponsored by Youth Therapy Eswatini, the event featured a spirited sports competition among eight churches from various regions of the kingdom. These churches included REST in Christ Ministries, Kingdom of Praise Ministries, Throne of Grace Ministries, and Devine Healing Ministries, among others. The participants competed in various athletic events, all infused with an atmosphere of praise, fellowship, and camaraderie.

Coach Sboniso Shongwe of Rest in Christ Ministries emphasized the greater purpose of the event beyond just physical competition. “The purpose of the competition is to fellowship,” he said. “God’s purpose is to reach out for souls, as emphasized in Philippians 2:2. So it is very easy to reach out for souls outside the church through initiatives like this.”

His sentiments echoed throughout the day, as participants displayed not only their athletic prowess but also strong bonds of faith and unity. Songs of worship, prayers, and shared meals added to the warm spirit of togetherness that defined the event.

A key highlight of the event was the awards ceremony. Gold trophies were presented to the winning teams, with Rest in Christ Ministries proudly taking first place. The golden victory not only signified excellence in performance but also unveiled the ministry’s commitment to balancing spiritual fervor with physical fitness.

With the success of this initiative, there is growing hope that such events will continue and expand, offering more opportunities for churches to engage their congregations in wholesome, spiritually uplifting activities. Rest in Christ Ministries has set a precedent — demonstrating that fitness and faith, far from being separate pursuits, can come together to strengthen the body of Christ in every sense.
