Africa-Press – Eswatini. Four regional teams have made it to the Ingwenyama Cup after winning in the regional finals over the weekends.
The teams are Nkwene Sundowns from Shiselweni, Nsenga Comrades under Manzini region, Emajukujuku from the Hhohho Region and Ubombo Flyers from the Lubombo Region. The four teams will join the 28 teams from the Premier League of Eswatini (PLE) for the tournament.
The 28 teams from the PLE are the ones playing in the MTN Premier League were there are 14 teams and the same number from the MTN National First Division. The 32 teams will play the tournament in a knockout format.
The logistics and the rules and regulations of the tournament will be released soon by the PLE and the Organising Committee. The tournament will kick-off at this month after the draw.
The tournament is sponsored to the tune of E5 million with an increased E500 000 from last year’s package. His Majesty King Mswati III announced during the prize presentation or awards that the sponsorship package was to increase to E15 million to be spread over the next three years or seasons with each season taking E5 million.
Green Mamba is the defending champions of the tournament after beating Mbabane Swallows 1-0 in the final last year courtesy of Sabelo ‘Sikhali’ Ndzinisa goal.
This year’s tournament will also be different as it will feature the Women Football with their allocated package at E100 000. The Women’s football will be playing in the tournament for the first time in its history.
Other logistics yet to be released are those for the culture competitions that feature Sibhaca, Ummiso, Lacwebetelako, Lutsango and Timbongi among others.
