Africa-Press – Eswatini. The Government of Eswatini, through the Deputy Prime Ministers Office (DPMO), announced that it is assessing the damage and coordinating emergency relief after several days of heavy rainfall caused flooding, damaged homes, and disrupted services across the country.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, November 18, 2025, the DPMO assured the nation that the government is actively supporting those affected and will continue to closely monitor the situation.
According to the Deputy Prime Minister, the heavy rains and strong winds that began on Saturday led to flooding in low lying areas, damage to vulnerable household structures, and interruptions to transportation and electricity in several communities. The National Disaster Management Agency is now deployed across affected areas to determine the full extent of the impact.
NDMA teams are working with local authorities and humanitarian partners to collect data, coordinate emergency assistance, and prepare for the rollout of relief efforts once access routes are safe for responders. The Deputy Prime Minister stressed that government is not folding its hands but is committed to extending support and ensuring that people receive the help they need during this difficult time.
Communities are urged to remain vigilant, especially as water levels in rivers, streams, and major dams continue to rise. The Deputy Prime Minister warned that the risk of drowning is high and advised the public not to attempt crossing flooded rivers or submerged bridges. She appealed for unity and encouraged emaSwati to look out for one another, particularly vulnerable groups such as children, the elderly, and Persons with Disabilities.
The government extended sympathy to all families affected by the flooding, assuring them that their safety and wellbeing remain a national priority. Members of the public were encouraged to report incidents and seek assistance through the NDMA WhatsApp line at 79000112 or by calling 112 or 24095500.
Deputy Prime Minister Thulisile Dladla reaffirmed that government remains committed to safeguarding all emaSwati and will continue to provide updates as conditions evolve.
