Africa-Press – Eswatini. The Deputy Prime Minister’s Office has received two Quantum buses valued at over E1.5 million from government, specially designed with portable folding ramps to improve accessibility for people living with disabilities.
Speaking during a press briefing at her office ahead of the Disability Arts and Music Festival in Manzini, Deputy Prime Minister Thulisile Dladla said the buses have already been put to good use. She explained that they were used during the Umhlanga Reed Dance 2025 last week, ensuring that persons with disabilities were able to participate fully.
She added that the buses will also be used to transport people living with disabilities to the upcoming festival in Manzini. The Deputy Prime Minister thanked government for the donation, saying the vehicles would go a long way in easing the lives of people with disabilities by promoting inclusivity and equal access to national events.
Beyond transport, government and various stakeholders have been working to promote accessibility in different areas of public life, including education, employment, and social participation. Initiatives like these reinforce the importance of creating an inclusive society where no one is left behind.
The buses are also expected to encourage greater participation of people with disabilities in other community events, sporting activities, and cultural gatherings. By providing safe and reliable transport, such measures help foster independence and social engagement among individuals who might otherwise face mobility challenges.
