Inkhosatana Princess Sikhanyiso Apologizes in Parliament

By Zweli Martin Dlamini

Africa-Press – Eswatini. Princess Sikhanyiso, the then Minister of Information, Communications and Technology(ICT) apologized in Parliament for absenting herself for more than two(2)years, the King’s first-born daughter demonstrated the highest respect for the Legislative House.

Now, if a Princess who is well-respected within the royal family humbled herself before Parliament, demonstrating that she was raised with respect by her parents, what is preventing Prime Minister Russell Mmiso Dlamini from doing the same?.

The PM undermined Parliament last week and we don’t know whether the arrogance emerged from the fact that, Russell Dlamini is also royalty or the Prime Minister is naturally arrogant.

But in my view, the Prime Minister’s behavior is not just a mere or normally arrogance but, a mixture of arrogance and stupidity.

Most members of the royal family are humble and respectful and I am making an example about Princess Sikhanyiso who publicly apologized and respected MPs who ordered her back to work after taking a long maternity leave.

Well, I know that the Princess, as the daughter to King Mswati, could have chosen not to respect Parliament and be arrogant, knowing that nothing would be done to her.

But she demonstrated that, sometimes even if you can be powerful, you lose nothing by respecting another person, Deputy Prime Minister(DPM) Thuli Dladla normally refer to us and/or young MPs “mntfwanami” even when facing heavy criticism from the media or Parliament.

Maybe, we can say Deputy Prime Minister Thuli Dladla is politically matured, but, how can a whole Prime Minister be outclassed by Princess Sikhanyiso who is far young than him in terms of emotional intelligence?.

Parliament is an Honorable House and, the PM must be held accountable for harassing Members of Parliament(MPs) in their legitimate political duties, telling them that; “nginenkhani mine ngitanikhomba-ke namuhla kutsi nginenkhani”.

The PM must consult Princess Sikhanyiso maybe she will give him some lessons on how to handle the pressure in Parliament.

Parliament debates are not fights but, a competition of constructive ideas in the public interest,MPs have the constitutional duty, to hold the PM accountable.
