Africa-Press – Eswatini. The international community including the Government of the United States(US) has issued a statement, commemorating the death of eSwatini highly regarded human rights lawyer Thulani Maseko.
The Chairperson of the pro-democracy MultiStakeholder Forum(MSF) was assassinated on the 21st January 2023, a few hours after King Mswati threatened those calling for democracy saying his mercenaries will deal with them.
International human rights organizations are calling for a credible international investigation into the death of the lawyer.
On another note, the crackdown on pro-democracy activists and human rights defenders is continuing in eSwatini.
Last week leaders of the People’s United Democratic Movement(PUDEMO) including Deputy President Wandile Dluldlu were detained by the police merely for attending the funeral of Madeli Fakudze, the brother to the deposed Macetjeni Chief Mliba Fakudze.
