Africa-Press – Eswatini. In a firm demonstration of accountability and commitment to patient safety, the Ministry of Health has confirmed the recall of 12 batches of medicines from Mankayane Government Hospital following quality assessments. The move, which follows recommendations by the Public Accounts Committee (PAC), underscores efforts to ensure that only safe and effective treatments reach emaSwati.
The recalled medicines, which were either expired or of substandard quality, were largely traced to a single supplier. This has prompted deeper scrutiny into procurement and supply chain procedures, an important step toward more robust healthcare delivery.
The PAC acknowledged that Mankayane Hospital has faced recurrent drug recalls and shortages in recent months. However, the Ministry of Health has pledged to work closely with oversight bodies to streamline supply chain systems and improve stock management across public health facilities.
